As a freelance programmer with over 25 years professional development experience, I've worked for organisations of all sizes in a variety of fields including space science, legal publishing, medical diagnostic devices, navigation & mapping, industrial robots, and insurance. In all, I've worked for over twenty different companies on more than fifty engagements. I've written code in something like sixteen different languages, against half a dozen different relational databases and a few non-relational ones too. My code has talked to COM components, to CORBA servers, and to any number and shape of web service. It's run on desktops, server farms, and mobile phones. I've written the first lines of new projects, and what were probably the last lines of a couple of very old projects.
I understand the importance of the build - I value source code control, repeatable builds, and automated test and deploy. I'm prepared to work to establish and maintain that. I can get to grips with existing code - I can read and understand it quickly. And I can talk to people - I'm safe in front of customers.
I'm a generalist who wants to deliver good software and for that to be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. I can probably write the software you want written, and if I can't I'll tell you so.
