Let's move to: Moseley, Birmingham - But what streets! What houses! Let me pop on my architectural historian's hat and geek-drool over newel posts to die for! Luxurious banisters! Mullions! Quite possibly the maddest entry in The Guardian's long running house-snooping column.

For 20 Years the Nuclear Launch Code at US Minuteman Silos Was 00000000. Other missiles didn't have launch codes at all. Gah!

Historic Moseley Road baths to close as Council transforms services in the face of budget cuts. After years of stalling by Labour, Conservatives, and Lib-Dems, it looks like the axe is finally going to fall on Moseley Road Baths, a building of national significance, and 8 other swimming baths. These will, apparently, be replaced with six new leisure centres. Swimming provision in the city is already poor - there's barely enough pool time available for schools, while most swimming clubs rely on pools at private schools - and reducing the number of pools and increasing the distance people need to travel will do nothing to improve the situation.

This, UK Parliament to migrate to Microsoft cloud, seems very hard to square with Government mandates 'preference' for open source.
