Added to The Coffee Grounds on 19:26, 08 Mar 2013Think I heard one in January.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:55, 02 Mar 2011I've just been to the pool for half an hour. I think I need to do that amount of training just to move up from the medium lane...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:13, 31 Jul 2009Saying I didn't see you is just a way of avoiding prosecution it seems :

Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:07, 08 Jul 2009I bet when you wrote this you never thought Woolies would go bust!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:26, 01 Dec 2008reflectors on wheels! A bit like tassles on the handle bars ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 23:59, 17 Jul 2008Oh, but your should call it a track pump...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 12:54, 08 Jul 2008Thats the same as I've got, so yes!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 12:54, 08 Jul 2008You need a beard to do an Audax, and probably a bobble hat too.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 08:18, 26 Jun 2008They might ride even faster once they know you a bit better :p
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:42, 18 Jun 2008Ahh, not like my group, we 'never leave anyone behind', at least we don't mean too...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:29, 17 Jun 2008I'm surprised they let you come along if you didn't have a banana. I recommend Clif bars if you need something more.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:33, 17 Jun 2008When you get a heart rate monitor you know there is no saving you!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 22:48, 09 Jun 2008Of the two, the AA is by far the most pro-car anti everything else. The RAC often does support public transport & cycling initiatives. Not that I'm a 'member' of either of them. Join the CTC!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:15, 24 Apr 2008Maybe there is an ice cream van union who dictate when they start, cos I heard my first one today too....
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:38, 23 Feb 2008I wish they did a Walkingcraft, I'd hand it out to the fools who wander aimlessly across the road whilst I head towards them ringing my bell and wearing a fluorescent coat...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 19:48, 28 Jan 2008Me and Kal saw the Wedding Present last night, I listened to the Archers podcast on the way there, I think that's more old person than wanting tea. We even gave up on the beer cos the queue was too long!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:37, 20 Nov 2007Bizarely I've read nothing but bad stuff about Dell recently, particularly laptops and how long it takes to get one! Did you check out their outlet store - you often get quite good bargains on there. Though as you've just bought one maybe you don't want to look at it....
My laptop has gone a bit mad as the power connection has gone flaky and the battery lasts about 30 seconds, so keep us up to date on how it goes...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:50, 11 Sep 2007When you click on the google maps link it says
"Did you mean: B13 9HD "
Why would I?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:24, 17 Aug 2007Only thing that looks low end to me is the gears which won't be a problem around brum. I think LeMond are in the trek stable. Mr Bontrager was taking part in that small race I did too.....
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 17:38, 03 Jul 2007Watching them was one of the most tiresome evenings of my life.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:28, 10 Jun 2007funnily enough I am just contemplating eating a snickers and coffee. No knight rider at work though.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:22, 11 May 2007You're thinking of the Thames, the Kennet canal is more duck/coot territory. I guess Swans are scared of drug dealers.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:28, 09 May 2007There have been ducklings on the Kennet in Reading for about 3 weeks now. Saw some signets this morning too.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:59, 09 May 2007You want some of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160109616067&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX_Stores&refitem=200104287984&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget
Though when I came to fit one this week I found my quick release had seized so I couldn't get it undone anyway...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 07:49, 28 Apr 2007Hey, where'd my link go! http://www.bbc.co.uk/berkshire/features/2004/07/oxford_rd_preview.shtml
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:36, 19 Feb 2007I new massive Tescos being built on oxford road in Reading, despite there being an existing 24hr megastore about 2.5 miles away. Oxford road currently has an eclectic mix of Caribean, Asian and Polish shops, along with other various bric-a-brac type shops. Don't know how many will survive the blue and white stripes. Having said that the grocers and bakery and I used to use a few years ago are now a Tanning shop(!) and coffee house and that's without a maga-mart nearby.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:35, 19 Feb 2007XEmacs so it's no so different, though don't tell Stallman I said that!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:02, 17 Jan 2007Can I bear to go through the pain of going back to the one true emacs though?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:36, 17 Jan 2007WTF?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:30, 13 Nov 2006Have you done anything with Java 5 - syntactically nicer iteration and Generics make the code nicer to look at too, though I've no idea how it compares to STL and how good it is from an expert point of view. From the point of view of someone who hast to get things done it's better though.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 19:50, 13 Oct 2006Did you ever reflash it?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:36, 27 Sep 2006When I were a lad my Mum and Dads dog used to do exactly the same thing.
You can buy hedgehog houses if you want to provide 5* accomodation
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 18:33, 15 Aug 2006I knew you'd say that :) - is Jezuk hiring ?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 19:42, 31 Jul 2006The only downside I've come across so far is that I have to turn my head too much to see the left side screen. That's probably down to the rubbish desk design though, which I can't do much about in this cube farm!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:00, 31 Jul 2006Hmm, the QNap TS 101 comes with slimserver pre-installed, and it supports real audio streams. It's fanless too - which must mean it get's pretty hot.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:33, 22 Jul 2006I've wondered about getting one of those to act as a slimserver, as my desktop PC sounds like a jet plane when it's hot. Is it any good and is it really really quiet?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 07:46, 21 Jul 2006I thought having them separte was supposed to be a good thing? Or am I living in the past?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:36, 30 Jun 2006Marc likes anything with pointy brackets in though ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:08, 26 Jun 2006Can I play guess the customer now?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 17:31, 20 Jun 2006You're only 37?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 20:59, 29 May 2006If one of your clients doesn't know you work from home, then they haven't done even the most basic of Googling ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 18:30, 24 May 2006If you wanted to be really cool you'd tell us how to get emacs to use ClearType fonts on windoze ...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:26, 06 Apr 2006Did it years ago :p
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 08:28, 06 Apr 2006On they buyers questionnaire thing is there a box for 'Has your house ever been struck by a tornado?'
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:15, 21 Feb 2006Oi! It works now :p
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 18:34, 17 Feb 2006In my experience black listing works for a very short time :(
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:26, 15 Feb 2006The "wibbly number in a graphic" approach I used seemed to halt the spam I was getting (which must have been by a bot I suppose). The wordpress spam filters also caught most of it - but requires me to moderate it.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:49, 15 Feb 2006"Wondering in" : Is this a comment on the mental capabilities of footballers today ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:22, 27 Oct 2005I remember the people who bought our last house coming round, and their small child (6ish to my untrained eye) said 'It's a small bathroom'. Her Dad said 'well you're only small'.
Have you had giants coming round looking at your place?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:07, 24 Oct 2005I'm an NTL customer and don't particularly hate them. Certainly hate BT more.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:55, 05 Oct 2005There are many things I'd call you, but introverted isn't one of them!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:39, 07 Sep 2005What about a tie?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:38, 22 Aug 2005I thought that there were loads of holes in your house at the moment - none Jez sized?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:10, 09 Aug 2005Bet you could get a good bike for that
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 18:00, 04 Aug 2005It didn't look too bad in the picture - what was wrong with it?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:31, 03 Aug 2005Glad to hear you aren't homeless, when I saw the reports I wondered if you were affected, but my hazy Brum geography didn't narrow it down enough for me.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:48, 02 Aug 2005That big book 'o charts wasn't based on something we both worked on from ages ago was it? If so I expect to hear of boats running into bits of land their electronic book 'o charts said weren't there ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 01:52, 18 Jul 2005You might not be alive, you might have written a JezBot to con us into thinking so!
I couldn't get u any work at our place cos u don't live in India.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 21:42, 31 May 2005Hey - if you don't login, make a comment and put a name in the name field that exists as a jezuk account, it's recognised as one - Security loop hole dood!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:01, 06 May 2005Lib Dem vote went up nearly 9% in our constituency. Result? Conservative MP (by about 500 votes) :(
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:59, 06 May 2005Why don't ur posts have a time on?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 19:44, 24 Apr 2005Maybe you should only do releases from now on when wc says a nice number. Maybe the next one should be a prime number :)

Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:32, 18 Feb 2005what if your boss has been sacked?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:56, 08 Feb 2005What I like about proper work (as I like to call it) is that normally something is achieved at the end of it. Unlike many working lives involving sitting in front of a computer for years achieving relatively little of worth.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:41, 27 Jan 2005I got it in a large tin. Well worth the extra few quid :))
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:42, 19 Jan 2005Have you tried playing Half-Life 1 source - the remastered thingy?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:47, 18 Jan 2005play it again on a harder level?

Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:27, 10 Nov 2004s/there/their/
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:15, 10 Nov 2004I don't think that Unit testing is bad in anyway, but it clearly can't be used on it's own. What really matters is if the whole software suite does what the customer wants. A contractor at our place suggested adding unit tests to an existing large application, mostly for 'DTO' objects, along the lines of 'does this setter work'. This cheerfully ignored the fact that pieces of functionality were missing from the product.
I think what that geezer was saying was that some of the 'thought leaders' don't give enough emphasis to the end product vs. using there methodology.
I'm not saying that unit testng isn't a good idea, and if you are programming in XSLT then being able to test it like that is a good thing. Probably more so than it is with Java as the side effects are harder to see.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:14, 10 Nov 2004I'd quite like it if Streamsicle didn't have to scan for all MP3s at startup, so if you fancy doing that .....
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:55, 15 Sep 2004How long before that sort of conversation is the other way round ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 12:11, 08 Sep 2004Done it. But for some reason delivery is in 1 - 2 weeks ! Bah!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 18:10, 16 Aug 2004I had amazon vouchers burning a hole in my inbox so now I know what to spend them on :)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 14:42, 16 Aug 2004I think Ayrton Senna thought that too....
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:54, 15 Jul 2004I thought that is what the red cross flags people attach to their cars were for :)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:15, 14 Jul 2004Having been on Holiday with a Personal Injury lawyer, I was led to believe that courts do expect you to have some common sense, The 'scalded by tea' example most likley wouldn't be won here.
PI claims haven't actually increased a lot over the last 10 years. Though I expect tabloid reporting of them has!
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:28, 13 Jul 2004thats not the thinking that got the computer industry where it is today ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:41, 12 Jul 2004Cos they'd burn if they were too close to the fire.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:27, 12 Jul 2004you need to buy yourself a shiny new computer :)

Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:06, 12 May 2004When I worked at home it was the irritating sound of kids falling off skateboards....
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:38, 31 Mar 2004But you've got your own Bus ?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 17:36, 16 Mar 2004So you'd be a part of the Wham generation ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 17:40, 15 Mar 2004He'll be blogging in your name next ....
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 23:01, 26 Feb 2004I bet quite a lot of spam is sent from smtp software running on machines connected to dial up, cable modems etc, it certainly ups the probability of a mail being spam using SpamAssasins rules. What's the problem with using your ISPs server though?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:45, 16 Feb 2004I just (minutes ago) came within about 18 inches of being carved down by some idiot burning thru a red light on a 3 lane road when the other 2 lanes were stopped. He stopped half way over the crossing when I shouted - looked at me - then carried on. Too shocked to get his number though.
Ban cars !
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:44, 13 Feb 2004:)) That'll stop your crazy mail system :p

Added to The Coffee Grounds on 09:28, 30 Jan 2004Hey - without a computer u can't use any of it ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 12:07, 26 Jan 2004Using Eclipse :)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:07, 24 Jan 2004Those key bindings don't rock, it just means that without your .emacs file you can't use Emacs anymore.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 16:58, 23 Jan 2004I can't believe you've been in software this long and managed to avoid installers! You need a month of using InstallShield to wipe that smile off your face :p
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:49, 20 Jan 2004I am for once in complete agreement :)
Cameras should be hidden, so people don't just slow down where the camera is. If the complaint is they just raise revenue, cancel the fine but increase the number of points added to license.
Cycling to the office everyday lets me see close up the extreme risks some people will go to to get an extra 5 yards down the road, and get to the next traffic queue 30 seconds quicker.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:18, 09 Jan 2004Hmm, being able to work instead of watching telly - yeah that r00lz :p

Allmost as annoying as the person who parked their heap outside our house and had to rev the engine for 10 mins at 5:30 to get it going.

Added to The Coffee Grounds on 17:15, 28 Jan 2003I had a cup of tea at a Birmingham police station when I was a student. A policeman there explained they had clip on ties so that if someone grabbed it they couldn't be strangled.
So maybe M&S worry their staff might be grabbed by some Middle Englander enraged by too much Christmas shopping, desperate to find the M&S christmas underwear section?
