Added to The Coffee Grounds on 13:28, 02 Jan 2004And there was me thinking Dark Angel was a Goth/skatepunk band. Ah well...
"now that needs more of an answer than I can fit into this little box"
Which is why I only posed the question. ;)
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 17:32, 15 Dec 2003Or "I agree with that chick from Dark Angel re: why she has that tattoo and so will join her in making this statement." At the end of the day it depends on whether the owner of the tat has a brain...
This stuff interests me - why is it so hard to assert your individuality while beig part of a group? There's a lot of strength in being part of a gang/collective/whatever, so why should this diminish your individuality?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 12:47, 15 Dec 2003Yeah, I thought similar things. Some were really nice (the binary ones in particular) but tatooing yourself with Quake logos?
I think however the "individual" barcode one is a little deeper than you give it credit for. Could it be a wry comment on how commercialism has branded "those who cannot be categorised" as a category and therefore ripe for exploitation? Though I'll admit it made me think of an old Harry Enfield sketch:
"Why have you got "individual" tatooed on your forehead?"
"Well, my mate had it done, so..."
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 10:40, 15 Dec 2003Been meaning to look into this FOAF stuff but a bit stumped on the mbox_sha1sum malarkey. How do you convert the email addy to that code? In fact, how do you create a FOAF file anyway, if not by hand?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 15:59, 24 Jul 2003There's that Brummie thing of starting every statement with "What it is, is..." Once you know to look out for it, it's hilarious. And then you find yourself doing it.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 19:30, 27 Feb 2003Hmm, I'd have to say no. I've been lamenting your gradual, voluntary, loss of hair over the last five years. Bring back the long haired scarf beardy days!
You look about 20 in that shot.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 00:13, 14 Jan 2003I take it you mean me...
When I was raving about it I was reading it. I just stopped soon after. So there. You've made me think about picking it up again, though. For your next big book, might I suggest The Wind Up Bird Chronicle? If you do, I promise to read Underworld...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 11:34, 07 Jan 2003Ten minutes and you didn't get a photo? Did it really have a beak full of pigeon? Kewl...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 04:06, 28 Dec 2002There's a bilboard at the end of my road which had that Spearmint add on it, until this morning when it was torn off - the whole thing. I'm not sure if a) it was removed by a parent (lots of kids around here), b) a religious type, or c) a kid who wanted a really big picture of a sexy woman.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 23:49, 26 Nov 2002You can't keep us sitting here in anticipation! How did the party go? Did they start scratching each other's eyes out? Was there blood?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 00:13, 13 Oct 2002What's a "key worker"?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 02:47, 30 Sep 2002Hmm. no html. http://www.exonome.com/fj/phkl/
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 20:04, 15 Jul 2002Almost a shame Bean isn't a girl or you could make him one of these. Then again, why not? Maybe a Badtz Maru one in black?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 20:03, 15 Jul 2002You know what'd be really useful? The JezUK recipe page. All that groovy vegetarian stuff you make. Think about it.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 22:56, 18 Mar 2002I thought this was about you and your detox diet and was about to suggest you read this article in the Guardian... Interestingly, the piece made me want to try one. Is there still the Colonic Irrigation Centre down the road from you?
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 22:14, 11 Mar 2002No Mac version. Bah. I remember it from Uni and it was pretty good.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 23:23, 15 Jan 2002If it's any consolation, loads of people I know, self and yourself included, are having a shite November/December. It'll all be over soon. I pray...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 00:34, 14 Dec 2001A recent feature on coffee shops in Time Out took an Italian coffee expert around London's chains which he mercilessly destroyed his main criticism being they never clean their glorious machines properly so the coffee tastes nasty. A new Pret opened next to us at work and, sure enough, they currently do the best coffee on the stretch. Give them a month though...
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 20:54, 13 Aug 2001I wasn't "unable to find my accommodation". I had no accommodation, and it wasn't lurching so much as striding purposefully back to the hotel bar.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 20:01, 16 Jul 2001In my school days we had a similar project. We had these A4 sheets of clear plastic paper called "transparencies" (I think) which we'd write on with a smelly pen and then put on a machine with a big light called an "over head projector" which would blow them up all big on a wall. Sometime's we'd do animations using pieces of normal paper to cover over bits and, when the critical moment came, reveal them. It was wizard!
Seriously though, people at Kate's work (publishing) spend hours doing their powerpoint presentations. I had a look at the program and it really is quite preposterous.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 21:08, 05 Jun 2001So, you're going for the bald aproach then? I always use the sticking-up-wedge in the morning as a hint to get it cut off again. Clippers. Argos. £20. Go for it.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 00:27, 14 Mar 2001Strikes me as just an incredibly pared down weblog of curious things this Amitage fellow has come across. It does look rather sinister though.
Added to The Coffee Grounds on 21:28, 18 Feb 2001Jez, my crap is yours. I owe you that much.
