# Britain's rocky road to Mars - The British-built Mars lander, Beagle 2, is about to leave home on the first leg of its journey to the Red Planet.
Just heard on the radio that it's been shipped. Am very excited about this project - lots of my old friends at the Open University are involved in Beagle2. I imagine they're having a bit of a nervous party at the moment. It's packed and ready to go, but there' still the launch and nine months to Mars followed by a bouncy landing before they find out if it's going to work. But if it does, it'll be fantastic!
