As soon as I found out what audax was, I knew it was inevitable ... Signed up for my first, a ride in February, a 123km loop out from Stourport, past Droitwich, down to Upton upon Severn, across to Evesham, and back. It's not a wildly long distance (conventional audax distances are 200km, 400km, and 600km), but I should probably put a few more miles in my legs before then.

#[linkfarm] Drillers break into magma chamber - Drillers looking for geothermal energy in Hawaii have inadvertently put a well right into a magma chamber.
"No one's ever seen a magma chamber" figured large in my old chum Phil's vivid description of the appeal of geology. It must be jolly exciting for the vulcanologist-types.

#[linkfarm] Space Giraffe For The PC Now Released!!
Llamasoft's llatest game, now on PC. Jeff Minter has been a bit of a hero of mine since I was about 14. I still vividly remember playing Sheep in Space on the Commodore 64 in the back of the physics classroom at school. Everything about it seemed bonkers and amazing, and I was just completely in love. Jeff's had something of a picaresque career since then, very much ploughing his own, sometimes lonely, furrow, and more bleedin' power to him.
Demo download available. Full game for next to knack-all. Click! Clicky-clicky now.
