# A letter, a real live letter, today from Network Solutions asking me to cough the cash (all USD35 of it) for the caption.org domain registration. If payment is not received with 10 days from the date of this notice, web address service will be discontinued, it threatens. Today is the 27th, and the letters is dated the 15th. Our records show your email address is jez@jezuk.demon.co.uk, it booms. Hmmm. Why didn't they email me then?

I'm instructed to go to https://payments.networksolutions.com/ to pay with my credit card. It tells me to go to https://www.networksolutions.com/payments/ instead, because the page has moved. Hmmm. Very organized.

Throughout the letter it refers to the web address and web address service rather than domain name record. Why am I being talked down to? Alternatively, if I were naive I might assume that I would get a seperate bill for email address and email address service. Either I'm insulted or confused, neither of which is especially helpful.

# Went past a pub at the end of Stony Lane, in the very heart of Birmingham's Balti Triangle, which was draped with a sign announcing the coming opening of its new restaurant, the Lahore Karahi.

Something wasn't right with the sign. I looked again.

Halal Chinese. The Lahore Karahi was going to be selling Halal Chinese food.

Wild!

# Bah! - I make a big deal about peoplesound's crap searching, and everything changes. There's a link, which I swear to God wasn't there yesterday, Find peoplesound Artist that does what I want. Coincidentally, Pete was having the same problems as me.

Anyway, go listen to The Terrapins.

# Here's an email from my chum Dan
... my band 'The Terrapins' have been accepted onto peoplesound and by the end of June we will have our own page on the site, selling our CD - Static EP. I'll put the address out as soon as I have it. In the meantime you can use the search facility on the www.peoplesound.com site, just type in terrapins.
Except you can't. Try going over to PeopleSound and finding the Terrapins using their search box. The bigbrains at PeopleSound don't seem to have considered you might be looking for a specific band, because you can only search for bands which "sound like" a well-known band. As a method of searching it might be fun once or twice "let's see if anyone in here thinks they sound like Rose Royce! BWAH-HA-HA", but it makes PeopleSound completely useless as a shop window for the bands it's supposed to be showcasing.

# Prostitutes' Calling Cards May Be Banned from phone boxes. Boo! How are we going to get to play Prostitute Top Trumps?

On the other hand, it'll give the collectors' market a real boost.
