This could all be our fault. The Times article doesn't mention trumps, but this summary does.

My Mum was up for the day, so she got to see it. He's going to have to pull something pretty special out of his hat when Nat's Mum comes up next week.

Expect to hear my old boss Colin Pillinger equivocating on the Today programme this morning.

Our cellar suffers a bit of minor flooding every winter, but generally not before February and only an inch or two of water. For the last few weeks it's rarely been less than ankle deep, and in the last couple of days the water rose so quickly Nat thought the freezer, sat up on its pallet, was in danger.
Up to then, I'd actually grown to like it. Everytime I went down to get some coal, I'd imagine what it would be like to keep a small shoal of fish down there. They could dart about your feet as you paddled round. Some nice shubunkins perhaps, or some little goldfish. Something nice and quick, not lumbering fantails or anything like that. Maybe even, given the setting, some blind albino cave fish.
But it's not to be. We bought a pump and my dreams of subterranean fish keeping disappeared in two hours flat.
